Carlos Acevedo Vazquez

Carlos Acevedo Vazquez, 78, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away on September 21, 2026, in Fairfield, Connecticut.

Carlos was born on March 14, 1948, in Las Marias, Puerto Rico, to the late Carlos Acevedo Diaz and Isabel Maria Vazquez Romero. In 1976, following the passing of his beloved mother, Carlos moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he would build his life, career, and family.

Carlos was the devoted husband of Aixa Acevedo, with whom he shared more than 50 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, family, and countless memories.

Carlos was funny, caring, dedicated, and famously sarcastic. He always had a comeback and always seemed to have something funny to say. There was never a dull moment when Carlos was around. He loved making up his own words and had a special way of greeting people with his unforgettable line, “You look like someone I know.” His quick wit and sense of humor were a big part of who he was, and the laughter he brought to those around him will be deeply missed.

Carlos was a lifelong mechanic and an exceptionally talented auto-body painter. Working on cars was more than a career for him. It was something he truly loved. He especially enjoyed working on air-cooled Volkswagens and took great pride in repairing and painting cars. He enjoyed attending Connecticut Volkswagen Association car shows and sharing his passion for Volkswagens with fellow enthusiasts.

Of all the things Carlos accomplished in his life, he considered his children his greatest achievement. He was a loving and devoted father to Joel, Mariana, and Alianna, and his family was always at the center of his world. He also carried the memory of his three children who passed before him, who remained forever in his heart.

Carlos is survived by his beloved wife, Aixa; his children, Joel, Mariana, and Alianna; his siblings, Magda, Magaly, Eric, and Edgar; and his many beloved nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his cherished Chihuahua, Lillie, who brought him much love and companionship.

Carlos was predeceased by his three children, as well as his mother and father and his siblings Sonia, Carlos Alberto, Crimilda, Isabel, Alba, and Ligia.

He also leaves behind one very special member of the family, his precious 1968 Volkswagen Beetle. The car was a reflection of his passion, talent, and the many memories he created throughout his life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Carolton for the care, kindness, and compassion they showed Carlos. Their support and dedication provided comfort to Carlos and his family during his time in their care, and their kindness will always be remembered.

Carlos will be remembered for so much more than the incredible work he could do with his hands. He will be remembered for the laughter he brought into every room, the love he gave to his family, his unforgettable sense of humor, and all the little things that made him who he was. His stories, jokes, sayings, and countless memories will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Carlos was deeply loved, will be greatly missed, and will never be forgotten.
