Angela Ruiz, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, in Orange City, Florida, at the age of 87.
Angela was born on March 21, 1938, in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, to her loving parents, Concepción Madera and Pedro Flores, who predeceased her. She later made her home in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where she built a life centered on family, faith, and community.
For over 50 years, Angela shared a devoted partnership with Efraín León, who also preceded her in death. Together, they created a life filled with love, resilience, and enduring companionship.
Angela dedicated many years of her life to working as a school lunch lady in the Bridgeport Public School System. She took pride in her work, serving generations of children with care and warmth. Outside of work, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures—playing dominoes, crocheting, listening to music, and shopping. Her home was often filled with laughter, creativity, and the comforting rhythm of her favorite songs.
A woman of deep faith, Angela was an active member of her church and a valued presence in her community. Her kindness, generosity, and positive spirit touched everyone she met. Those who knew her will always remember her as a source of strength, love, and unwavering encouragement.
Angela was preceded in death by her daughter, Ana Serrano, whose memory she carried closely in her heart.
She leaves behind a loving legacy through her grandchildren: Luz Soto, Mary Ruiz, Janet Soto, David Soto, and Angel Ruiz; and her great-grandchildren: Raymond Soto, Milagros Martinez, Yolanda Flores, and Luz Arizmendi, along with many great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren who were all deeply cherished.
Funeral services for Angela will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Community funeral Chapels in Bridgeport, CT 06604 TEL: 203-334-9999. Interment will follow to Lakeview Cemetery - 885 Boston Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06610.
Angela’s life was a testament to love, faith, and family. She will be profoundly missed, forever remembered, and always celebrated by those whose lives she touched.
