Angel Santos Echevarria

Angel Santos Echevarria, age 48 of Bridgeport, entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Bridgeport Hospital. Angel was born May 25, 1971 in Bridgeport; the beloved son of Jose R. Echevarria Sr. & Mercedes Matias. Angel was a loving and dedicated son, father, brother, and friend. He played in the major league from 1996-2002, most notably with the Rockies before brief stops with the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs. He hit .280 throughout his seven seasons, hitting 21 home runs and 90 RBIs. Following a short playing stint in Japan, Angel moved back to Connecticut and started "Simply Baseball," a baseball training clinic for children in the area. In addition to his parents, Angel is survived by his:two sons, Angel Echevarria Jr., Aurie Echevarria; long time companion, Jazmine Rodriguez Cox & her children three daughters, Kyra, Kaylee, and Katelyn; brother, Jose Echevarria & sister-in-law Kimberly; niece, Jahquashia; nephew, Tonahja; and a host of extended family and friends to cherish his memory.
