Angel Luis Caban, affectionately known as "Flaco," age 82, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024. Ángel was born on May 28, 1942, in Moca, Puerto Rico, to the late Juan Caban and Evangelista Rodriguez Moca. He had two siblings, Juan Caban and Olivia Caban.
Angel was raised in Puerto Rico until the age of 12 when he ventured to the Dominican Republic for two years as an Altar boy before settling in the Bronx, New York. It was there he began building his life, working tirelessly and meeting the love of his life, Carmen Figueroa.
Angel was known for his passion for fixing bikes and collecting cans, a testament to his resourceful and hardworking nature. His dedication to his work was unparalleled, spending many years at Remington Arms and Raybestos until their closures, after which he retired. His personality was a blend of stubborn determination, sociability, and an unwavering sense of justice—he never forgot a slight but was deeply committed to those he loved.
Angel’s greatest joy was his family. He was the proud father of three biological children and lovingly raised another as his own. He cared for Diana Vasquez, Miriam Caban, Angel Luis Caban Jr., Angel Luis Caban III, and several foster children. He is survived by his daughters, Miriam Caban and Diana Vasquez, his son, Angel Luis Caban III, and many cherished friends and family members. Angel will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents Angel is Predeceased by his son Angel L. Caban Jr and his great granddaughter Angelina Nefertiti Rodriguez.
Angel is survived by his daughters; Miriam Caban, Diana Vasquez; His Son, Angel L. Caban III; His nieces & nephews: Lisette, Jose, Madeline, Yvette, Jimmy and wife Terry, Myrna & Cesar; His Grandkids, David Gomez and wife Mayra, Jose Hernandez, Joeliana Santana, Aristides Rodriguez partner Veronica, Reinaldo Tenorio and wife Cinthia Serrano, Latisha M. Caban’s partner, Lisette , Carina R. Caban, Jesus Javier Caban, Angel Luis Caban IV, Jaydon Caban; His Great grandkids, Zoey, Josue, John, Bella, Jaycian, Danna, Joseph, Nyelis, Katarina, Anthony, Inaycheliz, Chelsy, Maya, Zayden, Elijah, Ian & Reinaldo IV (Juni).
Funeral services have been entrusted to Community Funeral Chapels, 798 Park Ave, Bridgeport, Connecticut 06604. Services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 1 to 4 p.m. Interment will take place privately.
