Alicia Lara

Con profundo dolor, pero con inmensa gratitud por la vida que compartió con nosotros, anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestra querida Alicia Lara, quien partió en paz el 25 de julio de 2026, a los 65 años de edad, en la comodidad de su hogar en Stratford, Connecticut, rodeada del amor de su familia.

Alicia nació el 6 de septiembre de 1960 en Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, hija de Antonia Sayas y Carmelo Cartagena. Fue una de siete hermanos: Ana, Carmen, Marta, Ide, Carlos, Papo y Alicia. Creció en Puerto Rico, donde desarrolló los valores que la acompañaron durante toda su vida. A los 17 años emigró a Massachusetts en busca de un mejor futuro para ella y su familia.

Fue la amada esposa de José Luis Lara, con quien compartió una vida llena de amor, compromiso y fe. También fue una madre orgullosa y dedicada de sus dos hijos, Obed y Darwin, quienes fueron el mayor orgullo de su vida. Alicia será recordada por su noble corazón y por la hermosa persona que fue.

Era una mujer amorosa, cariñosa, bondadosa, humilde, fuerte, luchadora, fiel, compasiva, alegre, generosa y profundamente dedicada a su familia. Su fe en Dios guiaba cada paso de su vida, y siempre estaba dispuesta a tender una mano a quien lo necesitara. Su sonrisa, sus consejos y su capacidad de hacer sentir amados a quienes la rodeaban dejarán una huella imborrable en todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla. Alicia se jubiló del Bridgeport Hospital, donde trabajó durante muchos años en el departamento de mantenimiento. Sus compañeros la recordarán como una mujer trabajadora, meticulosa, responsable y siempre amable con todos. Aunque su partida deja un inmenso vacío en nuestros corazones, su legado de amor, fortaleza, generosidad y fe continuará viviendo en su esposo, sus hijos, sus hermanos, familiares, amigos y en todas las personas cuyas vidas tocó con su bondad.

Los servicios funerarios han sido confiados a Community Funeral Chapels. La familia recibirá a familiares y amigos para rendir homenaje y presentar sus respetos el jueves 30 de julio de 2026, de 6:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m. El sepelio se llevará a cabo el viernes 31 de julio de 2026, de 11:00 a.m. a 12:00 p.m., en Lakeview Cemetery, ubicado en 885 Boston Avenue, Bridgeport, Connecticut.

With profound sorrow, yet immense gratitude for the life she shared with us, we announce the passing of our beloved Alicia Lara, who passed away peacefully at her home in Stratford, Connecticut, on July 25, 2026, at the age of 65, surrounded by the love of her family.

Alicia was born on September 6, 1960, in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, to Antonia Sayas and Carmelo Cartagena. She was one of seven siblings: Ana, Carmen, Marta, Ide, Carlos, Papo, and Alicia. She was raised in Puerto Rico, where she developed the values that would guide her throughout her life.

At the age of 17, she emigrated to Massachusetts in search of a better future for herself and her family. She was the beloved wife of José Luis Lara, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, devotion, and faith. She was also a proud and devoted mother to her two sons, Obed and Darwin, who were the greatest joy of her life.

Alicia will be remembered for her kind and generous heart and for the beautiful person she was. She was loving, caring, kind, humble, strong, hardworking, faithful, compassionate, joyful, generous, and deeply devoted to her family. Her faith in God guided every step of her life, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her warm smile, comforting words, and ability to make everyone feel loved will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her

. After a long and dedicated career, Alicia retired from Bridgeport Hospital, where she worked for many years in the Maintenance Department. Her coworkers remember her as a hardworking, meticulous, dependable, and kind woman whose dedication and compassion left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Although her passing leaves an immeasurable void in our hearts, her legacy of love, strength, generosity, and faith will continue to live on through her husband, her children, her siblings, her family, her friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Community Funeral Chapels. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Burial will take place on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Avenue, Bridgeport, Connecticut.

The family sincerely thanks everyone for their prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. "Though we can no longer see her, the love she planted in our lives will remain in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, Alicia."
