Alberta Swinton was born on August 30, 1938 to the late Mack and Elizabeth (Nesmith) Swinton in Williamsburg, South Carolina. She was known to family and friends as "Bert." Alberta left the South and headed toward the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia, as the years went by, she had four daughters. Alberta was a good disciplinarian. She only had to talk to her daughters once or give the eye, and of course, some beatings. Alberta's passion was preparing and serving soul food to family and friends. She loved to watch her favorite reality show, "Judge Judy." In 1984, Alberta moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut where she worked alongside her late twin sister, Roberta Swinton and her brother Robert Swinton. Several years later, she became the owner of Bert's place, a soul food restaurant. She went to Mount Moriah's Church under the leadership of Pastor Louise Owens, where she gave her life to Christ. In 1990, she became a member of the Stratford Church of God under the leadership of Pastor Dimps Powell and stayed until God called his servant home. Alberta leaves to cherish her memories to her four daughters; Linda (Joe) Delgardo of Bpt, Willa Mae Bryant of California, Sheila Bryant and Kimberly Smith of Bpt. Thirteen grandchildren; Teddy, Iesha, Laketha, Monica (Dominick), Thomasina (Angel), Lakesha, Christopher, Latasha, LaTanya, Joshua, Penord, Scott and Kimara. Twelve great grandchildren; Alijah, Nasir, Tahlea, Savannah, Ariana, Christopher, Anaiyah, Jaylen, Jayden, Chase and Alahna. She also leaves to cherish her memories to her sister, Lillie Randall, brothers, Sam (Janice) Swinton, James (Betty) Swinton, Matthew Swinton, Ulysee Swinton, Robert Swinton and Eddie Swinton. She was predeceased by sisters, Christine Miller, sister, Roberta Swinton, brother, George (Priscilla) Swinton and great-granddaughter; DiaMonique Gee. She also leaves to cherish her memories to a host of relatives and friends. Special friends, George Wilson and Edith Major. Viewing from 9:00am to 10:00am.
