Albert Edward Sjursen

Albert Edward Sjursen, age 85 of Stratford, entered into eternal rest, Tuesday February 19th, 2013 at Bridgeport Hospital. Albert was born on October 26th, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY, the beloved youngest child of Albert O. and Martha Sjursen. At the age of fourteen a brave and courageous young Albert joined the Navy and served with distinction until his discharge at age nineteen. He was a recipient of the American Theater Medal as well as a Victory Medal. Albert was a hard working and dedicated employee of EMSIG Manufacturing for over thirty years after which he worked for the US Postal Service for another sixteen years. A loving husband and devoted family man, Albert always made sure that his family was well provided for and taken care of so that his wife and children might lack for nothing. Albert enjoyed life, laughter and good joke. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Albert is predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, June Elizabeth as well as his parent's Albert O. and Martha. Albert is survived by his three children, Kathy L. (Alexander) DeLecce of New Jersey, Steven A. (Mary Jane) Sjursen of Stratford, CT and Mark C. (Valerie Long) Sjursen of Florida. Albert leaves behind his adoring grandchildren Danny, Michael and Craig DeLecce, Keith and Ashley Sjursen and his loving great-grandchildren Kayla, Madison, Alexia and Aleeha. Albert also leaves behind his three siblings, John, George and Jenny as well as a host of extended family and friends who will always treasure his memories. Funeral Services will be held privately.
