Adelaida 'Adela' Coriano

Adelaida "Adela" Coriano Adelaida "Adela" Coriano, age 76, of Bridgeport, entered into peaceful rest on Sunday, March 11th, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, with her loving family be her side. Adela was born October 27th, 1935 in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, to the late Sotero Flores and Atanisia Correa and was the oldest of four siblings. Adela migrated to Connecticut in 1957. She was a devoted wife for forty-five years to the late Bernardo Coriano. An active member of Church of Christ for forty-seven years, Adela volunteered forty years at the department of corrections. She was the director of "El Alfarero" prison ministries and a counselor for Helping Hand Center. Adela also aided the seniors at SADA and enjoy spreading the word of God on the radio, in the streets and churches. Adela was a true sister in Christ. Adela was a strong mother of three, Juan (Karen Coriano), Sonia Coriano (Albert Rodriguez), and the late Angel (Renee Coriano). Aldela is survived by: two siblings Juana Rodriguez, and Jose Correa, thirteen grandchildren, Ivan Rodriguez, Lisa M. Ortiz, Sonya Rodriguez, Michelle Jorge, Jason(Michelle), Yvette Rodriguez, Shayne, Rebecca, Matthew, Rachel, Saraya, Nathan, Dillion Coriano; twenty-three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Adela was pre-deceased by sister Juana Aura Rodriguez and grandson Juan B. Coriano. Adela was a great listener, warm gentle and supportive. She accepted people the way they are, helping many through difficulties. Adela's grace and precious memories will live on by many extended family and friends. A rejoicing funeral service will be held Thursday, March 15th, 2012 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm in Church of Christ, 240 Hamilton Street, Bridgeport. Interment Friday, March 16, 2012 at 12:00pm commencing at Church of Christ following to St. Michael's Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Ave, Stratford.
