Obituary "May the work I've done speak for me. May the life I've lived, speak for me, while I'm resting in my grave, I want to hear HIM say well done; may the work I've done speak for me." Addie Jones, age 94, entered eternal rest on Monday, May 18, 2020. She was born a "Spring Baby" in Whiteville, NC to the late John and Fannie Howard. As a young child in the South, Addie was affectionately known as "Gally" and attended Farmers Union High School. In 1967, she made South Norwalk, CT her home where she was a resident of Meadow Gardens apartment complex for many years. Addie accepted Christ at an early age. After relocating to Connecticut, she joined Calvary Baptist Church. She took pride in praising God by attending regular church services singing in the choir. In 1998, Addie transferred to Saint James Church where she became an active member of the senior choir and joined the usher board. After repositioning to Stratford, CT; Mrs. Addie Jones made First Baptist Church of Stratford her spiritual home where she attended as a faithful member under the leadership of Pastor William B. Sutton, III until becoming ill. Despite her physical health challenges, she always found time to worship in the spirit of God regardless of where she was. Mrs. Addie Jones was born in an era where children were seen and not heard. She was a woman of little words but could display a look that spoke volumes of conversation. A fashionista in her own right, she was always put together to perfection. She believed that clothes, hair, and nails created a presence for women that defined their style. Addie was employed by Supreme Slipper, a shoemaking factory where she functioned as a machinist until finding her niche in children. Mrs. Jones worked as a daycare teacher at the YMCA where she served for 7 years before retirement. In addition to her parents, Addie was preceded in death by her husband, Warren; daughter Carleen; brothers, Henry and James; two grandsons, Alfred Jr; Corey; and one granddaughter, Moravia. Addie Jones leaves four generations of family members to cherish her memory: 8 loving children, Wilma of Bridgeport, CT; Betty of Stratford, CT; Inez (Sanford) of Philadelphia, PA; Henry (Lisa) of Bridgeport, CT; Frances of Bridgeport, CT; Barbara of Bridgeport, CT; Velma of Bridgeport, CT; Frederick (Althea) of Bridgeport, CT; and brother Otis of Bladenboro, NC. She also leaves to cherish her memory 31 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
