Abigail Escalera Santiago

Abigail “Abby” Escalera Santiago, 58, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away on June 9, 2025, at Waterbury Hospital.

Born in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, Abby was the beloved daughter of Gunersindo Escalera and Juana Rivera. One of ten siblings, Abby grew up in a large and loving family that shaped her joyful and compassionate spirit.

Abby was known for her warmth, laughter, and unwavering dedication to others. She spent much of her life serving as a home health aide, offering comfort and care to those in need. Her work reflected her generous heart and deep sense of empathy.

She leaves behind four cherished children: Mónica Ropiza, Taisha Ropiza, Robert Ropiza Meléndez, and Joey Ropiza. Abby was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and a great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Abby is also survived by her extended family and a wide circle of friends who will remember her fondly for her kindness, laughter, and unwavering love. Her joyful presence touched many lives, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Friday June 13th, 2025, From 5:30PM to 8:00PM at Community Funeral Chapels 798 Park Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06604. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her remarkable life and honor the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
